SLU-PP-332, The First Step Towards Our Companion Animals Living Forever?
Share
Longevity is a complex topic, involving many intricate mechanisms as a mammal ages and approaches the end of its life. These mechanisms include the shortening of telomeres, the slowing of cell proliferation, and the degradation of hormones and organs. As someone who loves their pets, watching this process can be difficult and painful. It's natural to want to monitor and address these complex processes in order to extend the lives of our loved ones. It's natural to want to STOP our pets from dying.
Before we can consider addressing the aging process, however, we must first focus on preventing disease. The term "disease" is often used as a catch-all, encompassing everything from benign conditions like obesity to more serious illnesses like cancer and degenerative neurological conditions. As a society, we are still working to understand the causes of many diseases, with some remaining a mystery.
We do know that exercise can help prevent disease in mammals. However, not all animals have access to the same opportunities for exercise. For those living in cramped conditions, such as chickens in a coop or dogs in a small apartment, the benefits of exercise may be out of reach. It's important to consider ways to provide these animals with the same biological advantages in disease prevention as those living in more spacious environments.
Enter SLU-PP-332, an exercise mimetic. While it may not be possible to completely replace exercise with a pill, SLU-PP-332 comes close. This product, which will soon be available at Bronco Meds, opens three different ERR pathways that are typically only activated during long periods of heavy lifting with short breaks (such as body building) or intense exercise (like rock climbing or chopping wood). In particular, SLU-PP-332 opens the ERRα pathway, which regulates exercise-induced body adaptations and other important physiological processes in the muscles.
The benefits of SLU-PP-332 in animal models include:
* Increased endurance: Clinical trial animals were able to run longer on a treadmill than the placebo and control group. They also showed an increase in fatigue-resistant muscle fibers.
* Improved metabolic health: SLU-PP-332 can improve insulin sensitivity and metabolic syndrome.
* Potential treatment for diseases: SLU-PP-332 may help treat diseases like type 2 diabetes, heart failure, kidney disease, and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.
* Weight loss: SLU-PP-332 enhances energy expenditure, increases fatty acid oxidation, and reduces fat mass buildup.
